The present work focuses on design principles for network analytic projects and not on describing methods in detail. The aim is to help the reader to understand the relationship between network analytics methods and the question they want via concepts and explanatory examples, e.g.: a centrality measure like the closeness, that claims to identify central vertices is described. Examples are then amplified to expose their advantages or weaknesses. The book will enable the audience to: pose a defined network analytic question;build a network that is suitable for the question to be solved; choose or design the right network analytic methods to answer the question; choose or design the best random graph model to which to compare the results of the analysis;design the best model for describing the graph at hand;choose or design the right model for the process of interest;design the simulations of processes on networks such that the relationship between the structure of a network and the processes running on it can be best analyzed.
