Sepecat Jaguar, which replaced the Lightening, was conceived as a trainer, built as a strike fighter and outstanding as a close air support fighter bomber. This illustrated record comes at the end of a thirty-year history where Jaguar has been at the forefront of defence thinking in the UK and also France, Ecuador, Nigeria, Oman and India. Now in its twilight years, Jaguar has already been discarded in France and the RAF will soon stop using the design. However, Jaguar remains a powerful part of the defence structure for Nigeria, Ecuador and Oman whilst India is still developing its potential.
