Beskrivelse
Homage to a century hornist: Dennis Brain's Warner recordings in a box Dennis Brain's life ended tragically and far too early in 1957, at the age of only 36, but he had already earned a reputation as the greatest horn player of the 20th century: “There were no technical problems for him,” hot is the laudation of Walter Legge, the legendary EMI producer and founder of the Philharmonia Orchestra. “Over the entire range of his instrument he mastered intonation, legato, staccato, dynamic bandwidth and, above all, expression. “In addition to all Warner recordings as a concert soloist, chamber and ensemble musician — including his composites music — this 11-CD tribute also presents Brain's most remarkable contributions to symphonic, choral and opera works. The edition also includes several CD premieres, including music by Handel, Strauss, Richard Arnell and Norman Forber Kay — as well as a recording from 1953, which is now being released for the first time: Vincent d'Indys wind septet Chanson et Danses. This box is published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary (May 17, 2021) of the century hornist.
