Swedish black metal band Dark Funeral has some of its best concert recordings collected on this release. Three shows are included, and these are supplemented by documentary footage shot by fans of the band. 402670 The debut album from Dalinda, the newest protégé of Hossam Ramzy, worldbeat percussionist extraordinaire. She is touted as an extreme example of multiculturalism, with roots in the Saharan Mediterranean region as well as the Balkans (born in Libya and raised in Bosnia), as well as having musical influences from Western Europe and eventually moving into the club scene of London before meeting Ramzy. The album does well to showcase these influences, with a tight mix of synthesizer-heavy instrumentalism and her light and throaty Middle Eastern vocals. The music itself is largely synthesizers providing riffs and the occasional solo over the top of Ramzy's ever-present drumming patterns. The stray club beat drops in from time to time as well, keeping the music a bit more in the contemporary realm. Dalinda's vocals are the centerpiece though, as she switches between emulating an Umm Khulthum type of style and heading somewhere closer to American pop, often finding a nice midpoint to hang at for a time. For a nice look at a new artist in the worldbeat scene, this album wouldn't make a bad place to explore. ~ Adam Greenberg
