Collection of seven classic John Wayne films. In 'Stagecoach' (1939) a Native American chief is on the warpath in the untamed Wild West, but a stagecoach-load of travellers including the famous Ringo Kid (Wayne) decide to take their chances and make their way across Utah's Monument Valley anyway. In 'Flying Tigers' (1942) squadron leader Jim Gordon (Wayne) commands the U.S. Flying Tigers squad against Japan's fleet of bombers, but resentment soon grows amongst his team when one pilot's glory-seeking efforts place the mission at risk. In 'Sands of Iwo Jima' (1949) hard-bitten sergeant John M. Stryker (Wayne) earns the enmity of the recruits he trains for action in the Pacific. New recruit Peter Conway (John Agar)'s dislike for his commander turns to respect, however, when Stryker saves him from a grenade. Meanwhile, the squad are forced to show their bravery when they are sent into Iwo Jima to take Mount Suribachi whilst under constant fire from the Japanese. In 'Rio Grande' (1950) Lieutenant Kirby Yorke (Wayne) is stationed at a remote cavalry post, at which his son, Jeff (Claude Jarman Jr.), enlists in order to prove himself to his father. Yorke's ex-wife Kathleen (Maureen O'Hara) arrives to fetch her son back, but soon finds her love for Kirby is rekindled amidst much family tension. In 'The Conqueror' (1956) Mongol chieftain Temujin (Wayne) vows to get revenge on the rival Tartar tribe after he is captured during battle. With help from Bortai (Susan Hayward), the daughter of the Tartar leader, Temujin is able to escape and sets out on a mission to hunt down those who betrayed him. In 'Jet Pilot' (1957), at the height of the Cold War, relations between the United States of America and the Soviet Union are at breaking point. However, ace American pilot Colonel Jim Shannon (Wayne) finds himself thawing a little when he meets Anna (Janet Leigh), a beautiful young woman from the wrong side of the Iron Curtain. Although Shannon attempts to curb his desires for the sake of national security, a cross-cultural romance between the pair soon ensues. Finally, in 'Rooster Cogburn' (1975) ageing U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn (Wayne) finds himself stripped of his badge due to his alcoholism. However, he is given another chance when he is recruited by spinster Eula Goodnight (Katharine Hepburn) who is looking to get revenge on a gang of ruthless outlaws after they raided her town and killed her father.
