Having not slept for a year, lathe operator Trevor Reznick (Christian Bale) is dying of insomnia. Why he can't sleep, he can't remember. Method actor Christian Bale, who favours total immersion in the roles he plays, lost an astonishing 63 pounds from his already lean frame in order to convey the shockingly gaunt physique of the main character.
