Famed producer extraordinaire (Meatloaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell”, XTC, Psychedelic Furs, New York Dolls, Patti Smith, The Tubes, Hall & Oates, Steve Hillage etc) Todd Rundgren has always maintained his own highly successful parallel recording career, encompassing a wide range of musical styles. The double LP “Something/Anything?” (1972) is regarded as Rundgren’s pop masterpiece. Todd plays all the instruments himself on the first three sides of the original recording, kicking off with his best-known hit “I Saw The Light”, as well as the oft-covered “It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference”. By contrast, the fourth side included six live-in-the-studio performances with large ensembles, and featured the hit re-working of The Nazz’s ”Hello It’s Me”, the first song Rundgren ever wrote. The Demon Records 2014 LP Reissue is pressed on Heavyweight, 180-gram coloured vinyl in a replica gatefold sleeve including lyrics and imagery.
